Obituary for Pete Jones of Heavener

Isaac Wade “Pete” Jones of Heavener was born Jan. 15, 1961 in Poteau to Isaac William and Cordia (Graham) Jones and passed away Aug. 17, 2024 in Heavener, surrounded by his family at the age of 63.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. View Baptist Church in the Glendale Community with Pastor Noah Watts and Reverend Tim Trent officiating. Burial follows in Mt. View Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Pete was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked as a roughneck and logger. Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended church when and where he could. Pete loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by anyone whom knew and loved him.

He is survived by three sisters Shirley Clinton and husband Willie of Heavener, Judy Dunigan and late husband Jimmy of Heavener, and Charlene Harris and husband Bob of Heavener; one brother Freddy Jones and wife Carolyn of Heavener; so many nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and friends to mention, that we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac W. and Cordia Jones; three sisters Maxine McCoy, Bobby Holt and Patsy Watts; two brothers Leo Jones and Billy Jones; a niece, Tracie Freeman; and great-nephew, Jacob Freeman.

Pallbearers are Randy Sisco, Jimmy Tolleson, Alfred Watts, Steve Watts, Sam Watts and Monty Bost.

Viewing is from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday. The family will visit with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
