Veronica Gabriel funeral service planned

Veronica Gabriel of Heavener was born July 25, 1975 in Snyder, Texas to Alicia Avina and Jose R. Guerrero and passed away April 2, 2025 in Oklahoma City at the age of 49.

Rosary service is 6 p.m. Sunday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Mass is 2 p.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heavener with Father Leonardo Medina officiating. Interment is at Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Veronica had been a resident of the community for many years. For nearly 15 years, she served as a teacher’s assistant and translator at Heavener Public Schools. A devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Adoracion Nocturna Mision Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, she was known for her radiant smile that could brighten up any room. Veronica cherished moments spent with her family and friends. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two daughters Mishell Medina and Mireya Medina; one son Miguel Alcantar and wife Skarleth Arreaga; her parents Alicia Avina and Jose R. Guerrero; one brother, Joe Anthony Guerrero; four sisters Krystal Guerrero, Kristi Guerrero, Ana Marie Guerrero and Mariaelena Guerrero; six grandchildren Solash Alcantar, Mia Alcantar, Layla Alcantar, Juliethe Arreaga, Alakye Trevino and Zaiden Trevino; numerous loved ones and friends

She was preceded in death by her sister, Stephanie Guerrero.

Pallbearers are her family.

Viewing is noon until 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, noon until 8 p.m., Sunday and 9 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home.

Billy Adrean was sworn in as Heavener’s mayor during Thursday’s City Council meeting to replace Max Roberts, who did not seek reelection.
