Elizabeth Burgess funeral services planned

Elizabeth Burgess, 76, of Spiro passed away March 6, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was born July 26, 1948, in Prescott, Arkansas. She was the beloved daughter of Reverend Delbert Houston Smith and Rosemary (Logan) Smith.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Massard Missionary Baptist Church (7901 Massard Road) in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with Brother Philip Pevehouse officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.

Jane's life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and love. As a pediatric registered nurse, she devoted her career to the well-being of countless children, providing care that extended beyond the clinic and into the hearts of the families she served. Her nurturing spirit was evident not only in her professional life but also in her personal passions. An avid crafter and painter, Jane found joy in creating beauty, often sharing her creations with loved ones. She had an adventurous soul, cherishing travels, camping trips, and especially her visits to Branson. Above all, her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Jane was a long-standing member of Massard Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the Mission Treasurer for many years. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family and community will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Terry Mosby and Tommy Burgess; her brother, Houston "Buddy" Smith; and her sister, Debbie Smith.

Jane is survived by her sons Christopher "Scott" Mosby (Brandy) and Joseph "Jody" Mosby; her daughter, Kelli Owens (Mark); her grandchildren Kelsey Owens, Ashleigh Owens and Blake Owens; her sisters Lynda Trujillo (Ted), Terri Hawkins (Russell), Shari Smith LeRoy (Robin), Kim Pevehouse (Philip), and Robyn Stamps (Frankie); numerous nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Charlotte Hipp.

Pallbearers are Blake Owens, Caleb Pevehouse, Frankie Stamps, Robin LeRoy, Rustin Hawkins, and Levi Smither. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathon Miller, Russell Hawkins and Mark Owens.
