Obituary for James Elder
Funeral service for James Ray Elder of Howe is 2 p.m. Saturday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Sam Walden officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in the Glendale community, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
He was born April 7, 1989 in Poteau to Jimmy and Lisa (Potter) Elder and passed away Dec. 4, 2023 in Heavener at the age of 34.
James was a 2007 graduate of Wister High School. He worked at Wister Public Schools as the Technology Director, Transportation Coordinator, Maintenance Coordinator, Bus Driver, and friend. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all whom loved and knew him.
Surviving family members are his parents Jimmy and Lisa Elder of Howe; one sister, Amanda Elder, of Howe; his maternal grandparents Clyde Potter and wife Cindy of Overland Park, Kansas and Linda Graham of Heavener; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene and Thirl Elder; his maternal step-grandfather, Mike Graham; and his uncle, Zane Delaughter.
Pallbearers are Cliff Morgan, Stacy Gibson, Carl Hastings, Albert Cole, Victor Davison and Dustin Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Elder, Von Mead, and Dakota Moore.
Viewing is from 1 until 7 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.
The family will have visitation with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Service planned for Mary Lou Howerton
Memorial service for Mary Lou (Nunley) Howerton of Spiro is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Summerfield Cemetery with Jerry Williams officiating.
She was born Nov. 23, 1944 in Panama to Agnes (Bise) Nunley and William (Bill) Nunley and passed away Dec. 5, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Surviving family members are her husband, Troy “Bud” Howerton; sons Troy Don Howerton and wife Breeanna, and Kevin Howerton; granddaughters Olivia Moya and husband Mitchell, Vivian Howerton; grandsons Dalton Howerton and wife Ann Louise, Clayton Howerton, and Cannon Howerton; and great grandsons Benjamin, Alex, Rhett and Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and a son, Damon Shawn Howerton.
Cremation is under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Crystal Bohannon
Funeral service for Crystal Gayle Bohannon, 46, of Poteau, is 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church in Poteau with Dennis Bohannon, Don Martin, and Jim Reed officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She was born May 4, 1977 in Poteau to Frances Louise (Lovell) Didway and Howard Glenn Didway and passed away Dec. 1, 2023 in Poteau.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Bohannon; sons Shane Bohannon of Poteau and Alex Bohannon of Earlsboro; sister Tammy Wooten and Husband Shane of Wister; mother, Frances Didway; and grandchildren Evelyn and Cullen Bohannon of Earlsboro.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Didway; paternal grandparents, John and Maude Didway; and maternal grandparents, Grady and Virgie Lovell.
Pallbearers are Shane Bohannon, Don Martin, Bently Hill, Travis Orr, Fred Curd and Gerald McCullah. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Bohannon, and Kane Riggs.
Open visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Patricia Brooks
Funeral service for Patricia Anne Brooks of Heavener was Monday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Reverend Shawn Caldwell officiating.
Burial followed in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
She was born November 2, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Alfred and Virginia (Cox) Lawson and passed away Nov. 30, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 79.
Patricia was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Brooks, of the home; five daughters Kelly Marie James of Falls City, Nebraska, Mary Elizabeth Cox of Ashville, North Carolina, Tammy Alvarado and husband Carmelo of Heavener, Laura Silba and husband Agustin of Heavener, and Lisa Voltmer of Graig, Missouri; one son Carl James and wife Maria Mendoza of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother Ronald Lawson of Heavener; one sister Carol Luman and husband Phil of Humbolt, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends whom loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kim James; and one sister, Brenda Gonzalez.
Pallbearers were her family.
