Billy King
Funeral service for Billy Ray King, 84, of Wister is 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Wister with Reverend Keith Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow at Wister City Cemetery, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He was born Dec. 31, 1938 in Wister to Alice (Rogers) and George Herbert and passed away Dec. 9, 2023 in Wister.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; and sons Brad King, and Christopher King.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Anita Keener
Graveside service for Anita Josephine Keener, 81, of Wister is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wister City Cemetery Jim Crouch officiating.
Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She was born April 5, 1942 in Fairacres, New Mexico to Ruth E (Dukes) Rankins and John T Rankins and passed away Dec. 11, 2023 in Howe.
Survivors include her daughter Sharon Kay Guilbeaux and husband Brad; sons Allen Moore, Leeman Moore and wife Sherry; grandchildren; 50 plus great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Keener; parents; seven siblings; son, Melvin Moore; daughters Ruth Andrews and Terri Lee; grandson, Jeremy Lee; and great granddaughter, Rylee Mills.
Chris Blevins
SPIRO--Funeral service for Chris Blevins, 57, of Spiro was Tuesday at 633 Recovery Outreach in Spiro with Brother Kane Riggs officiating.
Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Panama, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.
He was born July 9, 1966 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Bobbie Bernice (Earls) and Jimmie Lee Blevins and passed away Dec. 9, 2023 in Spiro.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Blevins; mother, Bobbie Blevins Matherly; daughers Kayla Dollar, Amber Kirbo and husband Jeremy, Brandi Whiteaker, and Bobbie Osborn; sons Layne Blevins and wife Kara, Dustin Dollar and wife Tiffany, and Caleb Blevins; grandchildren; and adopted daughter, Brandy Harper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Blevins; grandson, Journey; and grand parents, Raymond and Azalea Earls
Marjorie Powers-Shoup
Memorial visitation for Marjorie Delores Powers-Shoup, 85, of Cameron was Tuesday at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with cremation services under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She was born Dec. 21, 1937 in LeFlore to Nellie Lorene (Kitchens) Powers and Buford A. Powers and passed away Dec. 7, 2023 in Cameron.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey Shoup; daughters Julie (Wood) Salgado and husband Mike; son, Phillip Wood; grandaughter, Erin Elizabeth Long; great granddaughter, Londyn Jayde Long; sisters, Mary Chronister and Wanda Roden; and a brother, Joe Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Buford and Nellie; grandson Britton Powers Long; brother, Bill Powers; and brothers-in-law, Eldred Chronister and Harold Roden.
Alva Harrald
POCOLA--Funeral service for Alva Harrald, 86, of Pocola was Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola with Reverend, Dr. Jeff Beshears and Paul Walker officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She was born June 28, 1937 in Twilight to Essie Mae (Holmes) and John Overstreet and passed away Dec. 9, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Surviving family members are her husband, Tom Harrald, of Pocola; her daughter Connie McAllister and husband John of Muldrow; son, Dan Harrald, of Cape Canaveral, Florida; granddaughters, Chandra Michelle Winters, of Lavaca, Arkansas, Emily Nguyen and her husband John of Bentonville, Arkansas, Courteney Martin and her husband John of Jefferson City, Missouri; grandsons Christopher Jackson, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jack McAllister and his wife Kristy of Orlando, Florida; great grandsons Cazen, Cannon, Cutler, Creed, Camden, Emerson, Emery and James; and great granddaughters Edith and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Essie Mae Overstreet of Arkoma; her daughter, Cheryl Jackson, of Pocola; son, Doug Harrald, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; sisters Sue Shackelford of Pocola, June Freeman, of Pocola and Kay Dye of Fort Smith; and brothers, Charles Overstreet and Bob Overstreet, both of Arkoma.
Pallbearers were Chris Jackson, Phillip Shackelford, Jason Shackelford, Cutler Winters, Cannon Winters and Roger Clark.
Betty Burns
Funeral service for Betty Burns of Heavener was Monday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Heavener with Reverend Paul Puckett and Reverend Jeff Beshears officiating. Burial followed in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Betty was born Oct. 1, 1939 in Page to J.E. and Mary E. (Jackson) Brown and passed away surrounded by family and friends Dec. 8, 2023 in Heavener at the age of 84.
Betty was a life-long resident of the area and a 1957 graduate of Heavener High School. She attended Mellies School of Cosmetology in Fort Smith. Betty was a founding member of the Trinity Baptist Church at its current location on Creek Street.
She loved the outdoors, especially working in her yard, and won Heavener’s “Yard of the Week” award multiple times. She created the 3 B’s Park in an area just north of her current residence, in memory of her late husband and grandchildren, filling it with many areas of comfort and interest in order to offer her hospitality to those she loved.
Betty loved the outdoors, life, and people. She participated in senior athletics, including basketball and track. She won several medals in track, including races as long as 5K, and once completed a half-marathon in her 70’s. She was also a member and player for the Oklahoma Classics Basketball team. The team traveled all over the country playing in tournaments and won several honors, including the 1999 National Championship.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her smile could light up the room. Betty will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Surviving family members are one son Marcus Burns and wife Kimberly of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two grandchildren Anthony and Emily Burns, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two sisters Dorthy Steelman and Corine Moody, both of Heavener; one brother-in-law, Marvin Morrison, of the Haw Creek community; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones, and a host of many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Mary Brown; her husband, Norris Burns; her companion, Gilly Robinson; two grandchildren Aiden and Kimber Burns; two brothers Baby Boy Brown and J.T. Brown; five sisters Mozell Johnson and husband Grady, Maureen May and husband Junior, Bonnie Gillham and husband Bud, Laverne Doyle and husband Vernon, and Geneva Morrison; two brothers-in-law Chief Steelman and Bobby Moody; and four nephews Roger Steelman, Mitchell May, Gary Gillham and Eddie Gillham.
Pallbearers were Steve Hembree, Brad Morris, Leroy Nolan, Ron Tucker, Craig Olive, Gary Youree and James McMillan.

Carolyn Conaway
Carolyn Conaway of Claremore was born Sept. 24, 1942 in San Bernardino, California to Thomas and Jessie Mae (Davis) Brimage and passed away Dec. 7, 2023 in Owasso at the age of 81.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Carolyn was a retired Certified Nurses’ Aide. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Carolyn will be deeply missed.
Surviving family members are three daughters Teresa Loomis and husband Jerry Don, Sheree Burkhart and Donna Woodral; one son, Ricky Wright; eight grandchildren Michael Fox, Christopher Kunze, Cody Fox, Nichole Fox, Ronald Steelman, Jr., Shannon Lydington, Tucker Wright and Hudson Wright; other family members, JoAnna Gail Goad.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Jessie Mae (Davis) Brimage; a son, Danny Ray Fox; and one grandson, Richard Dale “Freddie” Kunze, Jr.
